Dream Job Spotlight: Jessica Johnson, Alliance Residential

Eller PDC Student Stories

Jessica JohnsonBy Jessica Johnson

Hi! I’m Jessica Johnson and I will be graduating December 20th, 2013 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from the Eller College of Business. I accepted a job offer as an Internal Auditor from Alliance Residential in mid-November. The interview for this position came as a surprise because I previously applied on Wildcat Joblink for a different position and already had a phone interview with Alliance, which turned out to not be the best fit for me.

However, Alliance called again inquiring if I would be interested in the Internal Auditor position with them so I jumped at the opportunity and set up an in-person interview for the next week in Phoenix, AZ.  I chose to do an in-person interview, rather than a Skype interview because I feel that meeting someone face- to- face always makes a better impression. The interview went well and Alliance offered me the position the next day! I was thrilled, but I asked for a period of time to decide since I had another interview later that week. I went through a hiring event with a different company for a financial analyst position and realized that although it would be an excellent company to work for, real estate is what I am passionate about and the industry that I want to be in.

I am very happy that I chose Alliance to start my career in the multi-family industry and I am excited to enjoy the traveling aspect of my new job. I can’t express enough how important it is to seek out all opportunities and to choose the one you are most passionate about!
