Last semester I accepted a position as a Digital Marketing Strategist Intern at Nuanced Media, a digital marketing agency located in downtown Tucson.
I am currently a senior Marketing major and am really interested in the research and analytics side of marketing and the marketing strategy formation as a result of that. While looking for a summer internships on WildCat JobLink last semester, I came across a post with a job description that sounded like a perfect match between my prior work experience (as a marketing associate) and the type of marketing I was interested in pursuing. I made an appointment with Career Coach Nancy Roberts to get my cover letter reviewed, and I ended up using the job description to give her an idea of what I was interested in. She recognized the name of the company the description was from and told me that Nuanced Media was one of the companies that an Eller-sponsored Tour of Tucson businesses was going on that next week and that she had been in contact with the CEO. She ended up putting in a good word for me between coordinating the trip and after I sent in my job application, I received an email back asking me to interview with them. A week later, while I was at Nuanced Media on the Tour of Tucson, the CEO told me that I got the job.
Since then, I have started working there and am currently a Junior Account Executive managing about 7 accounts with local companies interested in new marketable websites and successful social media and/or SEO marketing strategies. One of my first projects was to research, then come up with a company name that would best represent a Real Estate Agency’s brand. As I learn the inner workings of the company, its processes, and the different software that they use, I will most likely start working with analysis of digital data to manage SEO strategy-based accounts.
