Student Spotlight: Nicholas Serventi, MGM

Eller PDC Student Stories

Nicholas is working this summer in Las Vegas, NV at MGM Resorts International as a part of their Hospitality Management Program.

Tell us a little bit about how you landed the internship:

I applied through UA Joblink, had a Skype interview with two executives, and was offered the position shortly thereafter.

What’s a typical day at your at internship like?

Some of the day to day duties I’ve been involved with so far include training on systems and software my department uses for project management, sitting in on various meetings with directors and executives on weekly updates, and working with the company’s databases to query data and provide mediums that are easier to read and understand. Additionally, each Thursday we tour one of the various resorts that MGM owns. Today, for example, we toured the New York New York where we rode the roller coaster, viewed the penthouse suites, viewed daily operations, met with executives, and had lunch at the resort. The HIP experience is one of a kind. Interns get to spend the summer in Las Vegas, so there’s not much to complain about.

What advice do you have for other interns?

Keep an open mind, take notes, surround yourself with the right people, and always ask questions.
