Alumni Spotlight- Mariam Nikola, Grad School

Eller PDC Coordinator Alumni Stories

Mariam Nikola graduated with a major in Management Information Systems and is currently working towards her graduate degree in MIS at the University of Arizona.

Why did you decide to go to graduate school? I decided to go to Grad school because I wanted the opportunity to gain more in-depth knowledge in my field. I learned a lot in undergrad, but I felt like I still had more to learn. I also wanted a higher degree to open more doors in the future.

What was the preparation and application process like? The application was pretty straight forward! I chose the accelerated Master’s track, so I started taking grad classes my senior year of undergrad. Mona Lopez helped me throughout the application process and made everything simpler.

What do you hope to do after you complete the program? After I graduate, I hope to find a consulting job. Anyone who has taken Dr. Neumann’s MIS 111 class knows that MIS is solving real problems for real people, and that’s exactly what I want to do.

What advice do you have for students looking to pursue the same advanced degree? For any undergraduate MIS students considering getting their Master’s I HIGHLY recommend doing the Accelerated Master’s Program. You save so much time and money!
