Miles Cahill is studying Business Management and interned with IMG.
What was a typical day at your internship like? During a home football and basketball games, I was able to conduct promotional events for Arizona Athletics’ corporate sponsors. This allowed me the ability to not only network with companies such as Coca-Cola and Miller/Coors but also know how the sponsorship industry works in the sports world.
What advice you have for other students looking for a similar internship? To students looking for a sports internship, my advice is to always be proactive. A lot of the sports industry is about who knows you. The only way you can achieve this is through informational interviews and building relationships with people already working in the industry. It is amazing the connections you can make by just reaching out to companies and engaging your interest in learning more about what they do on a day-to-day basis.
How did Eller prepare you for your internship? Eller has astronomically helped me with obtaining my internship. Through one of the Eller FESO clubs, Sports Marketing Association, I was able to network with my current boss and build a relationship that soon led to my internship. Eller has taught me a lot about time management, hard-work and teamwork, which are all relatable in my internship and after college.
