Tell us a little bit about how and why you decided to participate? I decided to participate because I thought it would be a good opportunity to see the world. We are so caught up in our day to day life that we don’t see the necessities of the world. This was a one time experience, I am so glad I was part of it.

What was a typical day like? A typical day was a traditional breakfast outside in the patio, then, everyone boarded the vans to go to Vuelta Grande up in a mountain. Our goal was to make the playground for the school safe for the kids to play and also, design a mural of positive ideas for the kids. After we would finish at the school, we would go back to our house, have a little play time for ourselves and then dinner.

What was your favorite part of the experience? Everything was amazing! I would say that seeing smiles in every kid was so rewarding!

What advice you have for other students looking for a similar experience? I would advice everyone to go out and see the world. You may not be able to speak the language but you’ll get so much out of it. It is so amazing to experience moments where you know you are changing someone’s life.
