Kate Konrad is graduating in December 2017 with a major in Accounting. Over the winter break, she had an externship at Frank, Rimerman + Co. LLP in Palo Alto, CA.
Why did you want to do this externship? I had been interested in Frank, Rimerman ever since the Meet the Firms event. The Silicon Valley tech industry is interesting to me, so I was naturally drawn to this innovative accounting firm located throughout the Bay Area.
What did you do during this job shadow experience? I met with associates in each of the major service lines. I talked with them about how they started with the firm, their normal day- to- day tasks, as well as any insights they had about the firm’s culture. I also went out to lunch with recruiters and got coffee with a recent hire.
What did you learn as a result of the externship? Overall, it was a great glimpse into the company’s unique culture. Everyone I talked to was incredibly generous with their time. I even learned about their unique professional service lines, such as their Accounting and CFO Advisory department.
