Omar Castillo is graduating in May 2018 with a major in Finance. During the winter break, he had an externship at Intel Corporation in Phoenix, AZ.
Why did you want to do this externship? The main reason I wanted to do this externship was to see how people worked in a company as big and interesting as Intel. I believe Intel is a company with the potential to make things happen.
What did you do during this job shadow experience? Daniel Shin walked me around Intel’s building and we talked about the company’s culture and his career path. He then introduced me to different people that work in Finance which was very helpful. I had the opportunity to talk with them about what they like and what they do at Intel. The externship was amazing and I hope to be able to get an internship with them.
What did you learn as a result of the externship? What caught my attention the most was that people at Intel had very good relationships. After talking to Daniel Shin, he remarked the importance of soft skills to work for Intel and commonly any other company. We sometimes hear that around Eller, but hearing that from Mr. Shin was different.
