Laura Tavel graduated in May 2015 with a degree in Finance. She is currently working at Vanguard in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Why did you choose to work at Vanguard? I chose Vanguard because their mission aligned with my personal and professional values.
What was your favorite part of Vanguard’s Internship? I interned during the summer before my senior year in our Retail Services department and had a great experience. The culture was supportive, growth-minded, and above all honest and ethical. Additionally, the value of work/life balance is extremely important to Vanguard, and me, as well. Dedicating time to my hobbies (running and traveling) outside of work allows me to come to the office engaged and excited to work.
What were your after graduation plans? After graduation plans were to come back to Vanguard to join the Vanguard Accelerated Developmental Program (VADP)-a 15 month rotational program. Ultimately we rotate through 4 departments which provide great business exposure and wonderful professional development opportunities. Currently the 2015 VADP cadre is wrapping up Rotation 1 which entailed obtaining our Series 7/63 licenses, and working with our retail clients and retirement plan participants.
What is the most enjoyable part of working with Vanguard? The most enjoyable part of working here is the people I’m surrounded by. The level of comradery and diversity makes me look forward to coming into work every day.
