Tiffany Hannasch is a Marketing major who will be graduating in December 2017. This summer, she interned at Talking Rain Beverage Co. in Preston, Washington as their Marketing and Graphics Intern. This internship provided an aid to students with their living situation by putting them in contact with current employees.
How did you land this internship? I knew about the company from a friend, and reached out to them for any opportunities. I then reached out to their HR and was given the opportunity to go through the interviewing process and land an internship.
What was your favorite part of the experience? Definitely the work environment. Talking rain’s product Sparkling Ice, has the branding of “Be Not Bland” and they took that feeling throughout the entire company. Making work a fun place to be.
If you worked on a big project, please describe it. Over the course of a summer I tore apart the graphic design teams database and developed visual analytics and breakdowns of numbers for them to utilize each month and YTD.
What did you find most challenging about the internship? Aside from just being an intern, I found myself taking over a management position and being quickly trained into a new role as the old traffic coordinator had resigned. I was thrown in to a completely new job position and had to quickly build relationships with stakeholders as well as the designers themselves.
What advice do you have for other students seeking a similar internship? Put yourself out there and don’t be afraid to apply somewhere you aren’t used to. I’m originally from Phoenix, AZ, but knew Seattle was an end point I wanted.
