Internship Spotlight – Keren Bojorquez, Intel

Eller PDC Coordinator Student Stories

Keren Bojorquez is a Finance major graduating in May 2018. This summer, Keren interned at Intel Corporation as their Financial Analyst in Chandler, AZ. This company provided housing assistance to find a place to live.

How did you land this internship? I attended Career Showcase and handed the recruiter my resume which prompted him to schedule me for an interview the next day.

What was a typical day like? A typical day at Intel as an intern consisted of several business meetings with my supervisor, finance team, operations partners and additional stakeholders that furthered the development of my project.

What was your favorite part of the experience? My favorite part of this experience was seeing my recommendations put into action. Working on a real, current problem that Intel was facing required intensive work and it was rewarding to see it make a difference in the group that I interned in.

If you worked on a big project, please describe it. I worked on a project that aimed to reduce the costs of short-term labor contracted by Intel. I got to work closely with my operations partners to gain insight on the current situation and develop recommendations to optimize the usage and negotiation of short term contracts that were presented to finance and operations’ upper management.

What advice do you have for other students seeking a similar internship? I would advise other students to get as much experience with the formulas and functions that Excel offers beyond the basic skills. Having familiarity with this program will allow for much more efficient process and open the door to possibilities of how to showcase your finance capabilities.
