Majeed Koroma is an Accounting major graduating in May 2018. This summer, he interned at Ernst & Young as their Launch associate in Los Angeles, CA.
How did you land this internship? In October, I attended the Meet the Firms networking event and submitted an application for an EY Launch Internship. Later that month, I had an on campus interview with a partner from the Phoenix office, which went very well. In November, I had a second interview with another partner in the Los Angeles office. The following week, I received a phone call with an internship offer.
What was a typical day like? My time with the firm varied from day to day. I took part in a rotational program during which I worked in several service lines. This led to me being able to experience a wide range of opportunities such as working with an audit team at a client site, sitting in on meetings at the home office, and working remotely with teams across the country.
What was your favorite part of the experience? I was able to have a lot of great conversations with professionals at the firm about career goals, work/life balance, industry trends and much more. These conversations weren’t limited to the office; The firm held many social events where I met a lot of great people.
How did Eller prepare you for your internship? A lot of the classes at Eller assign group projects, which prepared me for my internship where I was working in teams constantly. Some classes at Eller also made me more comfortable using Microsoft Excel, which I used everyday at EY.
