Bryndon is a Pre-Business students graduating in May 2019. This summer, Bryndon interned at The Chicago Bears Football Club in Chicago, Ill.
What did you find most challenging about your internship? The most challenging thing about my internship was keeping my composure with angry fans. For example, when the Bears hosted an autograph session for its alumni players I had to cut the line after a certain time. So when fans realized they couldn’t get an autograph, they would come over to me to complain. Some fans understood why they couldn’t get an autograph and left without a problem. But other fans would have a fit and fuss about why they deserve an autograph to me for a couple of minutes. When your in this position, you have to stay strong and keep your composure because it can be very tiring repeating “No, you can’t, I’m sorry” for several minutes to several angry fans.
What advice do you have for other students looking for a similar internship? Don’t be shy asking your advisors or other students for help when finding an internship. It can be intimidating applying for an internship that you think your not qualified for but there is no bad outcome when applying. When your applying for different internships, remember it only takes one yes from a company. Before you apply, you should have someone look over your resume and cover letter to make sure everything is correct and clean (you should also do the same with your LinkedIn profile). Apply to as many internships as possible but also make sure these internships are the type of work you want to do in the future. Not all internships are paid, so if its not worth doing for free, donate do it.
