Ciara is a Marketing major graduating in May 2018. This summer, she had an internship with KIND Snacks in Dublin, Ireland as their Product Launch Assistant. For this internship, she was able to live with relatives.
How did you land this internship? I was able to connect with KIND Employees from Ireland through LinkedIn. While there wasn’t a position available, my experience working as a University Ambassador here was valued and a job was created for me in the Ireland launch of KIND.
90% of the work I did was in the field. One day we could be sampling at an event in the City Centre. One day, we would be doing Store Audits to track the product and the other day we could be meeting with the distributors and the sales managers to discuss strategy on moving forward with the launch. No two days were the same and it kept it extremely interesting.
What was your favorite part of the experience? My favorite part of the experience was being able to be such a key part of the international launch of a product that I love so much. It was amazing to continue working for a company that I value so much in a city that means so much to me.
If you worked on a big project, please describe it below: The reason for my job was to launch the product for the first time in Ireland. I was there from the very beginning of the process and had input in every step.
What advice do you have for other students looking for a similar internship? I would advise to be bold with reaching out to companies that you’re interested and continue the conversation that you’d like to be a part of their organization. Even when there’s not a listed position available, if you really have experience that could add value to their company they may be able to create an opportunity.
