Internship Spotlight – Kate Konrad, PwC

Eller PDC Coordinator Student Stories

Kate is an Accounting major graduating in December 2017. This summer, Kate had an internship with PwC in New York, NY in their International Tax Service and Quantitative Solutions.

How did you land this internship? I attended PwC’s “Elevate” program in Summer of 2016 in the New York City office. I applied for this location after interviewing with PwC Phoenix.

My internship dealt with data incorporation and analysis in Excel. On a daily basis, I would work in a small team to complete the work-papers needed to complete the project.

What was your favorite part of the experience? The people! I made many close friends over the course of my internship, and truly valued the culture at PwC.

If you worked on a big project, please describe it below: I was staffed on a single project that had a combination of tasks to be performed in the office and at the actual client site. Surprisingly, I did not file a single tax return for this client. Instead, I aggregated and analyzed financial data for corporations around the globe to determine relevant tax information.

What advice do you have for other students looking for a similar internship? I highly recommend attending leadership events to get your foot in the door! Also, talk to different people about their experiences to see whether tax might be for you.
