If you worked on a big project during your internship, please describe what you did to help. Although I worked on many projects, my favorite was being able to assist with multiple photoshoots for the 2018 Autumn Winter Line. At these photoshoots I gained experience in how marketers use their eye for detail to capture the perfect shot. I helped in everything from organizing what was to be shot, directing the positions of the models, and even deciding on detail shots. By the second photoshoot I was granted the opportunity to select the final shots to be used in online concession sales for the retailers Harvey Nichols, House of Frasier, and John Lewis. Overall, I assisted with over 80 gowns being photographed and placed online for sale.
What did you find most challenging about your internship? The most challenging part of my internship was keeping up with the fast-paced environment of the fashion world. Every day I was assisting with a new task or project. This was challenging, but it was also one of my favorite aspects my internship offered. No day was the same and every challenge provided me with the opportunity to grow as a well rounded professional. One day I was assisting with sales, the next marketing or operations, and after that finance. I did not only grow through the depth of the work I was doing but also the breadth because I was able to work in every department of the company.
What advice do you have for other students that are also considering interning in London? DO IT! Interning in London will be one of the best experiences of your college career. Not only do you gain unparalleled international work experience, but the growth you experience as an individual is unbelievable. Through my experience abroad I was able to increase my cultural knowledge, meet lifelong international friends, and truly gain confidence in my abilities as a business professional. After a summer in London, you will feel like you can accomplish anything you set your mind to.
How did Eller prepare you for your internship? Eller shapes and molds you into an outstanding professional from the moment you declare Pre-Business. Whether it be the skills we learn in data analytics, basic excel knowledge, or how to communicate at all levels of management, you will be overly prepared. I was able to handle any project I was given because of my business courses. Not only that, but Eller also instills in you the value of building relationships and networking. I never looked at my co-workers as just co-workers, they were my family for the summer and because of the relationships we formed, I will now have a network in the UK forever.
