Students networking on the final day of the conference
With Eller’s support, members of U of A Beta Alpha Psi attended the 2018 BAP Western Regional Meeting in early February. Beta Alpha Psi is an international honor association for financial information students and professionals. The meeting was held in Sacramento, and was hosted by Beta Phi and Zeta Iota chapters.
While representing UA’s Beta Omicron chapter, the students networked and attended sessions regarding leadership and professional development. Speakers at the conference included Selvi Stanislaus, CEO of the California Franchise Tax Board; Merle Hopkins, Past President of Beta Alpha Psi; and Paul Weise, VP of Market Development for Surgent Professional Education.
The students also had the opportunity to participate in Cardz for Kidz, a national movement aiming to uplift the spirits of hospitalized children worldwide. Based on the number of cards produced, Cardz for Kidz gives awards to participating organizations. Thanks to Western Region BAP students, Beta Alpha Psi improved from gold to platinum status.
The slogan for the regional meeting was “Embrace the Opportunity.” The UA BAP students did exactly that, and returned to Tucson equipped with newfound knowledge to increase chapter engagement, promote membership growth, and improve chapter operations.
