Rey Sanchez graduated in May 2015 with a double major in Business Management and Entrepreneurship. Rey currently works at E&J Gallo Winery as an Account Executive in Los Angeles, CA.
Why did you choose to work for Gallo? I chose to work for Gallo because it was a private company that had the resources of a large, public company. Also, I loved the fact that they are full-integrated and that you could have multiple experiences in different aspects of business all within the same company.
Tell us about your job responsibilities and title. I am currently the Account Executive calling on Albertsons Companies in Southern California which encompasses the Albertsons, Vons, and Pavilions banners. I work directly with both the wine and spirits buyers to manage all of our brands within their chains, sell in new items, manage back-end operations, and pitch for planner locations that give direction for what sales reps sell every month.
What do you enjoy most about working at Gallo? I really enjoy the fast-paced culture and the competitive atmosphere. It brings out the best in me and has pushed me to be more than I imagined at such a young age. Also, selling something you enjoy makes the experience extremely fun – I mean who doesn’t like wine and spirits!?
What is your fondest Eller memory? My fondest memory of Eller is all of the amazing people I met and experiences I was apart of during my time in Eller. It is the easiest place to be involved in clubs and activities – take advantage of it!!
What advice to you have for Eller students seeking a similar career path?My advice would be to take advantage of every opportunity that’s presented to you and do it with a positive attitude. Think it might be too hard or you might not be ready yet for the opportunity? DO IT ANYWAY! You will figure it out – just make sure to remind yourself that it’s a process and success doesn’t happen overnight.
