Internship Spotlight – Jessica Wherty, Carvana

Jessica Wherty is double majoring in Accounting and Management Information Systems (MIS) and will be graduating in May of 2020.  This summer, she interned for Carvana as the Accounting Intern in Tempe, Arizona. 

How did you get this internship? I applied through LinkedIn and was contacted by a recruiter with whom I interviewed!

What was a typical day like? I worked with Accounts Payables in the morning, managing all the utility accounts for the company. In the afternoons, I would work on various projects that my boss assigned me.

What was your favorite part of the experience? My favorite part of the experience was learning how each division of the accounting department works together to produce the financial statements for a company!

If you worked on a big project, please describe it below: I worked on a project where I analyzed the cost of growing into different markets and was able to implement processes for future growth.

How did Eller prepare you for your internship? Eller prepared me for my internship with all the presentation practice. At the moment, I hated all the presentations we were required to do, but they came in handy when I had to present my work to my boss and other managers in my department!
