Gavin Quarto is an Accounting major graduating in May 2020. Last summer, Gavin interned with We Make Footballers in Richmond, London.
If you worked on a big project during your internship, please describe what you did to help. I worked on a few large projects throughout my time at We Make Footballers, one of them being writing up a business plan and doing the budgeting for a potential new franchise in China for a 5-year time period. I helped the potential new franchise owner see the revenue forecasts for their expansion and how much they would be profiting during that 5 year period
What did you find most challenging about your internship? What I found most challenging was starting out and understanding the different softwares that the company uses like Xero, Parent Area, and Active Campaign. This was challenging because the tasks I was assigned utilized all 3 often and I had to become an expert on them quickly.
What advice do you have for other students that are also considering interning abroad? Interning abroad is an experience that I believe everyone should take if given the opportunity, because it allows you to see a completely new work culture and realize the work culture that we have in the US.
How did Eller (or your previous coursework) prepare you for your internship? I was prepared for my internship because I have used excel every day at my internship, and used formulas that were taught to me in BNAD 276 and BNAD 277. Also, reading the different accounts and the balance sheet were a lot easier because of accounting 200 and accounting 210
