Mike Spera is an Management Information Systems (MIS) major graduating in May 2019. Last summer, Mike interned with Buddy Burst in London.
If you worked on a big project during your internship, please describe what you did to help. During my internship I was tasked to create database of prospective clients for future business in excel. I was also tasked to complete some data analysis on all of the company’s social media platforms. For this, I looked at each social media including Facebook, twitter, and Instagram and then reviewed each post for what got the most interactions, likes and comments and then put that in a an excel spreadsheet to help repeat what type of posts got the most traction.
What did you find most challenging about your internship? The most challenging part about my internship was to find new prospective clients that would be interested in using the buddy burst seed stick flag ship product to use for a marketing campaign or that they would want to use for branding.
What advice do you have for other students that are also considering interning abroad? The type of work that we are used to in the U.S. is much more faster paced then compared to Europe so don’t be afraid to ask your boss for more work or even specifically work that you would want to be doing, because they don’t know.
How did Eller (or your previous coursework) prepare you for your internship? Some of the MIS excel classes helped me in my internship for being able to use excel in the best way to get work done. Also the professionalism that Eller teaches you helped when I went to business meeting for new clients with my boss.
