Irving Green is a double major in Accounting and MIS who is expected to graduate in spring of 2020. This winter break he had an externship with Frank Rimerman in Palo Alto, California.
Please provide a brief description of what you did during your externship:
Started out meeting with my point of contact Kathleen Roberts (Recruitment person), and we talked briefly about how the day would go. She gave me an outline which had 1 hour time slots with 2 people, a lunch break with a different coworker, then 2 more 1-hour time slots. Overall I had a good experience since everyone was able to provide such a different and unique experience that all led to a positive outcome.
Why did you want to do this externship?
Nancy Meech explained that it was a great opportunity and it is along the area where I want to start a life once I graduate.
Please describe your externship experience:
I shadowed a handful of professionals during my time at Frank Rimerman. This opportunity gave me a chance to hear each person’s story and how some key decisions made working for the firm possible. I was also taken to lunch and to get coffee with a U of A alumnus and hear his story of how Eller prepared him for life after graduation.
What did you learn as a result of this externship?
That even though I had never even heard of this company prior to the externship, I could see myself growing a career with Frank Rimerman.
