Externship Spotlight – Jonathan Prygocki, Turner Broadcasting

Eller PDC Coordinator Student Stories

Jonathan Prygocki is an Accounting major expected to graduate in the spring of 2021.  This winter break he had an externship with Turner Broadcasting in New York City.

Please provide a brief description of what you did during your externship:

I experienced what corporate finance is like in New York City as I shadowed Amber who works for Turner Broadcasting.

Why did you want to do this externship?

I wanted to do this externship because Turner Broadcasting is a big company that generates a lot of money in revenue which is intriguing to me. I knew I could learn a lot from a company like Turner.

Please describe your externship experience:

I shadowed Amber Gearhart, a Financial Analyst for Turner Broadcasting, for a full day. I was able to see what she did for a living and the day-to-day tasks of a Financial Analyst for a big company in New York City. Also, I sat in on meetings with her co-workers and bosses.

What did you learn as a result of this externship?

I learned what it is like to work in a city like New York and all the hard work it takes to get there. Also, I learned many different things about revenues from advertisements and how much depth there is to it.

Anything else you would like to share about your experience?

I loved my experience and I encourage everyone in Eller to apply for externships because there is so much you can learn from it.
