Reyna Helfgott-Waters is a double major in Marketing and Entrepreneurship expected to graduate in the spring of 2020. This winter break she had an externship with Adidas, in Portland, Oregon.
Please provide a brief description of what you did during your externship:
During my externship at Adidas, we had a full day starting at 10am, and ending with a late night basketball game at the University of Oregon to see the latest Adidas uniforms in action. We started our morning at Adidas headquarters in Portland with a coffee chat with a creative designer set up by our amazing Eller Alumni host. We had a few more coffee chats with Adidas employees across multiple fields. We got to network and mingle in the open office space, and experience the day to day work culture at Adidas. The coolest part of my Adidas externship was attending an in house workout class hosted by the Adidas trainer. To wrap up an exciting day we attended a basketball game with two of the top 10 NCAA teams to see the Adidas uniforms at work. Overall it was an amazing day that exposed me to a less traditional and very exciting work environment. I left the experience with an expanded network and invaluable experience.
Why did you want to do this externship?
This externship allowed me to experience a corporate company that had an exciting and different work environment. I’ve always loved how fast paced the sports world is, and Adidas allowed me the opportunity to combine my passions for marketing, creating, and sports.
What did you learn as a result of this externship?
I learned how to network and the importance of teamwork. Adidas has an open office where people bounce around to bounce ideas off of one another. It was inspiring to see such success in a less traditional corporate setting.
Anything else you would like to share about your experience?
My externship at Adidas has been one of my favorite moments from my Eller experience. I got to meet new people and experience what it would be like to work for a top sportswear company.
