Externship Spotlight – Sadie Heard, Adidas

Eller PDC Coordinator Student Stories

Sadie Heard is a Marketing major expected to graduate in the spring of 2020.  This winter break she had an internship with Adidas in Portland, Oregon.

Please provide a brief description of what you did during your externship:

At the externship, we met tons of people, had coffee chats with specific people in areas we were interested in, worked on a community service close to Adidas, and attended a basketball game to view how the product that they designed performed and what could be better.

Why did you want to do this externship?

I really wanted to attend this externship because I wanted to network and learn more about a company like Adidas.

Please describe your externship experience:

This winter break, I attended a full day externship at Adidas in Portland, OR! I job shadowed Amanda, who works in product development for the company. She introduced us to people from marketing, product development, PR, communications and more. When we weren’t networking or having coffee chats with young professionals, we toured the campus, attended a fitness class, worked on a community service project and attended a college basketball game to watch how the product that Amanda developed performed. While we didn’t learn much about the daily work Amanda does, we learned a lot about the culture and what it is like to work for such a cool brand.

What did you learn as a result of this externship?

Amanda and all her associates really stressed one key point, which was “take one thing you’re good at and embrace it.”

Anything else you would like to share about your experience?

If you have the chance to apply for an externship, do it! It was an amazing experience and I’m so happy I was able to attend.
