Sydney Schoonbrood is a Business Management major set to graduate in the spring of 2021. This summer she interend for FIXR in London, United Kingdom.
How did you get this internship?
I was placed into my internship through FIE and the Eller Summer London Internship program.
What was a typical day like?
I would conduct research on the American online ticketing market on college campuses. After collecting research, I would reach out to students via email and social media to encourage them to apply for a brand ambassador position for the fall term. I also reached out to small businesses in local college towns and tried to convince owners to use FIXR as a ticketing platform for events.
What was your favorite part of the experience?
My favorite part of being an intern at FIXR was being able to meet new people and network outside of the United States.
If you worked on a big project, please describe it below:
My main role at FIXR was to help the company branch out into the American market. I conducted all research and communications independently.
What did you find most challenging about your internship?
I found it challenging to take initiative and act more vocal at work.
What advice do you have for other students looking for a similar internship?
Be yourself and always ask questions! Ask for what you want because sometimes all you have to do is ask.
How did Eller prepare you for your internship?
Eller ELITE really helped me prepare for my professional appearance. The Excel labs were also very helpful when it comes to creating spreadsheets.
