In an effort to support our Be wEller campaign, we’ve reached out to students to find out about internships and ways they are learning to work remotely and stay well in the process.
Osaso Ighodaro (FIN/ECON)is an Investment Banking Summer Analyst at Morgan Stanley (Global Industrials Group).
My team is based in NYC but all interns are working remotely for summer! I’m working on projects involving company valuation tactics including mergers and acquisitions in the Industrials space.
What have you learned so far about working/learning remotely? So far I’ve learned to stay calm when technology doesn’t work as planned! Morgan Stanley has over 150 interns in Investment Banking and 700+ across the firm so sometimes things are slow to load; I’ve learned to be patient before panicking and calling IT!
How is your employer helping you out during this time of online learning/remote internships? MS has done everything I could have asked to make the transition to a work-from-home environment as seamless as possible, including sending us a technology package (monitor, keyboard, mouse, headset, etc.) and providing in depth, step-by-step training sessions for accessing all of the firm’s resources remotely. They have also made sure we have plenty of virtual networking opportunities (such as coffee chats, lunch and learns with senior leaders, and small group sessions) so that we can still get a good feeling for the culture.
What are you doing personally for your health and wellness? I am trying my best to stay active! This is a great way for me to blow off steam and I have been going to spin classes every day. I have also been loving at-home workouts on YouTube (Blogilates and MadFit are some of my favorites).
