Claire Kushan is a Finance major graduating in May 2022. This summer she interned for Healthcare IS as a Data Analyst.
What was the process for getting this internship, job, or summer experience?
I began to work at Healthcare IS in May of 2018, so there was not an application process for my job this summer. I have been working with the company full-time over summers, and part-time at school. Even though the office was working shifted to WFH, I was acclimated to working remotely while attending school.
What was your favorite part of the experience?
My favorite part of this experience was being able to see my impact on the company. I heavily focused on segmenting contact lists within Hubspot to refine sales efforts which led to a 24% increase in leads per month. The increase in sales felt very rewarding as I was able to see my hard work pay off.
How did Eller prepare you for this experience?
Eller prepared me for this experience by prepping my proficiency in Excel and Tableau. Not only have I had practice with these applications in the classroom, but the technical workshops I have attended through the Eller college have helped me immensely. In addition, I put my time management skills to use because I had to balance work and other programs I was involved in, which replicated my busy schedule at school.
Anything else you would like to share about your summer experience?
On top of working this summer, I participated in the Eller Business Career Insitute and the Envestnet Institute on Campus program. In addition, I had the opportunity to take part in an Eller Externship with JP Morgan Chase & Co. and an externship with Equitable Advisors. These two programs and externships allowed me to learn more about the financial services industry and sparked my interest in a career in asset and wealth management. I am very grateful for these opportunities as they allowed me to develop a tech skill, participating in finance-related discussions, and attend virtual company visits.
